Spain uses a smaller photo than most countries. The Ministry of the Interior asks for one recent colour photograph of the applicant's face, 32 × 26 mm, taken from the front against a plain, smooth white background, without dark glasses or anything that prevents identification, showing the full oval of the face — eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and chin — at high resolution on good photo paper. The same photo is used for the DNI. Spain publishes no head-height figure; this preset sizes the head at 22–26 mm (the ICAO 70–80 % guideline) and marks it as a guide, on a 307 × 378 pixel, 300 dpi canvas.

What the Ministry of the Interior requires
One recent colour photo, 32 mm high by 26 mm wide, taken from the front, on a uniform plain white background, high resolution, good-quality photo paper. The oval of the face must be clearly visible: eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and chin. No dark-lens glasses or any garment that hinders identification. If you obtained or renewed your DNI the same day, no photo is needed for the passport.
Head size
The rule gives the size of the photo, not of the head. The guides on this preset put the crown-to-chin height at 22–26 mm — 70–80 % of the 32 mm height, the ICAO proportion used across Europe — so the face is large and centred the way the police photo booth would take it. Line the crown up with the top guide and put the chin in the grey band.
Printing
Download the 4×6 sheet and print it as a standard 10 × 15 cm photo; cut along the lines. Fifteen 26 × 32 mm photos fit on one sheet — you need one for the passport (and one more if you renew the DNI separately).
Frequently asked questions
Is 26 × 32 mm the same as the DNI photo?
Yes. The passport and the DNI use the same 32 × 26 mm photo on a white background.
Can I use a 35 × 45 photo instead?
No. The Spanish size is smaller; a 35 × 45 print will not fit the application. Use this preset.
Is there a digital upload?
